Spring Athletics

This spring was an interesting time for us. First, Lexi joined Dobson's Track and Field team as a pole vaulter. For a first timer, she did very well and is excited about next year.

Meanwhile... to keep from going crazy while working his doctorate progam, Steven started cycling again on Sunday mornings with the Bike Barn and working out in the gym. First, he ran the Phoenix Marathon in 5 hours and 5 minutes and then completed his first triathlon in April. Ironically, the Marquee Triathlon was the one he was about to register for when the crash occurred. Steven completed the 1.5km (0.9 miles) swim, 45km (27.9 miles) bike, and 10km (6.2 miles) run in 3 hours and 35 minutes. This distance is often called "international" because it is slightly longer than the official distance used in the olympics.

Then a couple of weeks later, Dawn and Lexi completed their first triathlon. They competed in the all female Esprit de She Triathlon at the sprint distance. They had a .75km swim (.5 mile), 20km bike (12.4 miles), and 5km (3.1 miles) run. They are excited by their accomplishment and are considering competing at this distance again in September.
